Hillcrest Farm is located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in beautiful Rappahannock County, Virginia about 60 miles west of Washington, D.C. It is tucked away in a valley between the villages of Washinton and Sperryville known as the "Gid Brown Hollow" about 4 miles off the main 4-lane Highway Rt. 211 running through the county.
The farm borders the Shenandoah National Park. The current owners Sam & Wanda Snead have converted the farm from apple orchards to open hayfields and pastures. The main residence is partially log and dates back to the 1800's. Three generations of Sneads have lived on the farm. Rayner Snead (Sam's father) lived on the farm during the great depression and wrote a book about his life on the farm called "Hollow Boy" available in local bookstores or by request.
Sam and Wanda, in addition to raising Llamas and farming own and manage a Real Estate Company which specializes in the sale and management of Farms, Estates, Land and residential properties throughout the Northern Virginia area.
Sam and Wanda have raised a number of Foster children over the years some of which have finished college and are now living on their own. Tiffany, their current teenage daughter, is in High school and lives with them. Two spoiled springer spaniels who rule the house complete our household.
Out on the farm we currently have 12 Llamas - 8 females and 4 males. There are 3 neutered males and one herdshire stud. We also have 2 minature goats.
There is never a dull moment out there on the farm as all kinds of wildlife co-exist with our domestic friends.
